THE SUN IS OUT, YOUR FAVOURITE SONG IS PLAYING, YOU’VE MIXED AN APEROL SPRITZ, AND YOU’RE READY TO JOIN ALL YOUR FRIENDS… FOR A VIDEO CHAT!
The past few months may have made raising a glass to your friends slightly more difficult, but staying home hasn’t had to mean staying apart. Aperitivo, the Italian tradition of getting together with friends and neighbours to enjoy a little something to eat and drink in the early evening, doesn’t need to take place next to a Venetian canal or on a London rooftop – it’s all about the company and the atmosphere. Recently, we’ve asked our Spritz Squad to share how they’ve kept the aperitivo spirit alive during lockdown and enjoyed Aperol at home. Here are some of their top tips for enjoying Aperol Spritzes at home.
Even if you’re not going out you can still dress up for that 5pm Spritz – why not complement your home décor with an Aperol Spritz in style like @katie.lavie. With a festive dress, plenty of houseplants, and a very apropos bowl of oranges, raising a glass of Aperol Spritz is the perfect way to liven up any room of the house.
Aperitivo can be enjoyed anywhere with the right company… even over video calls, as demonstrated by @stephytstayshome who shows that social distancing doesn’t have to dampen that aperitivo atmosphere. There’s nothing better than catching up with friends over an Aperol Spritz, so don’t mind us while we dial everyone in.
In Italy, aperitivo isn’t just about drinks – it’s about the company and especially the food. With an amazing spread laid out and of course a couple of glasses of Aperol Spritz, @wear.juti.eats shows that you don’t have to go for traditional cicchetti to nail that perfect aperitivo moment at home.
With the weather getting warmer, there’s only one way to make the most of the sunshine – with Aperol Spritzes for you and a friend! @Wanderlustruby shows us just how it’s done with a backyard picnic, a bouquet of flowers, and of course two glasses of Aperol Spritz.
